Minnesota Eugenics Society & Founder Charles Fremont Dight

Letter from Charles F. Dight to Adolf Hitler, August 1, 1933.

In pre–Hitler Europe and the United States, eugenics was an applied science advocated by respected clergymen, educators, physicians, and scientists. The excesses of Nazi Germany during the 1930s and 1940s brought disrepute to the subject. At the time Dight was writing to Hitler, people in the United States knew little about Hitler’s plans for a “final solution.”
