Steve Berg is a writer and urban design consultant based in Minneapolis-St. Paul. His clients have included the Metropolitan Council, the Itasca Project, the Urban Land Institute, the City of Minneapolis and the Minneapolis Downtown Council.
His primary background is in journalism, first as a reporter for the Raleigh News & Observer, then for 30 years as a political correspondent and editorial writer for the Star Tribune, both in Minneapolis and in Washington, D.C. Later, he wrote the Cityscape column for Minnpost.com. His recent projects include “Intersections: The Downtown Minneapolis 2025 Plan,” and two books, Target Field: The New Home of the Minnesota Twins, and US Bank Stadium: The New Home of the Minnesota Vikings.
A native of Fargo, N.D., Berg was educated at the University of North Dakota, the University of North Carolina – Chapel Hill, and Stanford University. He and his wife, Dixie, have two grown children and live in downtown Minneapolis.
Alan Page played fifteen seasons in the NFL and was a cornerstone of the Minnesota Vikings' legendary "Purple People Eaters" defensive line. He is a member of both the college and professional football halls of fame. From 1993 to 2015, Page served as an Associate Justice of the Minnesota Supreme Court, the first African American to serve on that court. Page and his wife, Diane, run the Page Education Foundation, which provides financial support to young people of color in Minnesota who want to pursue higher education. The Pages live in Minneapolis.
