Hold your next meeting, event, reception, wedding, or memorial service at Historic Fort Snelling, conveniently located next to Fort Snelling Memorial Chapel and near Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport.

Plank Museum & Visitor Center

Located within a newly-rehabilitated historic 1904 cavalry barracks, the Plank Museum & Visitor Center includes conference room and event spaces available for rental. Additional flexible, overflow, and breakout spaces can be included with your rental, dependent upon availability.

Conference room

  • Capacity: 60 people, depending on layout
  • Variety of layouts available
  • 1,000 square feet
  • Rental includes tables, chairs, Wi-Fi, ceiling-mounted projector, and retractable screen. 

Event Space

  • Capacity: 140 people, depending on layout
  • Variety of layouts available
  • 3,400 square feet
  • Rental includes tables, chairs, Wi-Fi, two ceiling-mounted projectors, two retractable screens, PA system and microphone. 

Landscape

An outdoor gathering space overlooking the Mississippi River is available for rental on a limited basis. Please note that indoor space in the visitor center may be required in conjunction with an outdoor rental for restroom access and as an inclement weather back-up.

  • Capacity: 250 people
  • Wifi and electrical access
  • Closest restroom access is in the Plank Museum & Visitor Center, approximately 175 yards from the amphitheatre. 
  • The Rendezvous Grounds, a grassy forest clearing next to the historic fort, is available on a limited basis.

Historic Fort

Rentals inside the walls and buildings of the historic fort are only allowed under limited circumstances. Please contact us at ftsnelling@mnhs.org for more information.

Fees

Rental fees are based on day, time, length, size, set-up needs, staffing, and type of function. We will quote you a rate after gathering some basic information about your rental.

Logistics

Food and drink

  • Catered events are welcome. Event prep room available for caterers – cooking not allowed on premises.
  • Catering staff or rental client are responsible for removing all trash and leaving the site in a clean, orderly state. Catering equipment may not be delivered the day before or left. overnight after an event. The event user selects and pays for all catering costs.
  • Smoking is not allowed on-site.

Decorations and signs

  • No signs or decorations may be placed on historic furnishings, woodwork, or surfaces.
  • Open flames and decorations with glitter are not allowed.
  • Please contact us with any questions about special decorations or signs.
