Field Trips: Historic Fort Snelling
The stories of place! Learn the stories of this important place with its military fort and surrounding area, home to a wide history that includes Native peoples, trade, soldiers, enslaved people, and immigrants. Explore the new Plank Museum & Visitor Center inside a rehabilitated 1904 cavalry barracks and experience expanded outdoor learning opportunities with stunning river overlooks.
Students will engage in a brand new experience where they will experience stories of this important place and the people who lived in and around the fort through lively conversation with staff while on a guided tour of the fort's buildings, spending time exploring the new landscape, visiting the newly restored visitor center, participating in staff-led experiences, and so much more!
