Field Trips: Historic Fort Snelling

Thank you for your interest. In response to ongoing concerns over health and safety practices, MNHS museums and historic sites will not host any field trips during the 2020-2021 school year.

Look for scholarships to re-open in the fall of 2021 for the 2021-2022 school year.

This National Historic Landmark resides on Dakota homeland, known as Bdote, with history spanning 10,000 years. Learn stories of the military fort and its surrounding area, home to a wide history that includes Native peoples, trade, soldiers, enslaved people, and immigrants.

  • Teachers and staff free
  • One free chaperone per five students. Additional chaperones invoiced at student rate.

Construction to create a revitalized Historic Fort Snelling is underway. Museum store and amenities are available at the historic fort.
