Twin Cities Gay and Lesbian Community Oral History Project

This look into the lives of eight people connected with the gay/lesbian/transgender community spans the years from after World War II until the advent of AIDS in the early 1980s. The narrators recount their early ideas about homosexuality, the ways they came to terms with their own sexuality, the places they socialized with those like themselves, and the social and political environment they experienced in the Twin Cities. They also address the changing nature of the gay community. Their stories range from quiet identification with a minority group to gay rights activism in a national arena.
