Visit for a special program about the Le Sueur Tigers, a volunteer militia that formed to help New Ulm residents during the U.S.-Dakota War of 1862. Tours will include a visit to the marker honoring the Le Sueur Tigers placed in Louise Park, adjacent to the Mayo home. The marker was dedicated on August 19, 2012, 150 years after the militia organized. Hear how the volunteers left their families to assist their fellow citizens in New Ulm on August 19 and 20, 1862. Learn about Dr. W.W. Mayo’s involvement with the Tigers and what his family did while he was gone to help with those displaced by the war.
