Movies magically transport audiences to other realms using an urban backdrop, a fantasy land or even a different era to shape the story and its characters. Travel through time with a panel of movie buffs and history lovers as they introduce movies that showcase a different era as a key part of the action. This program is presented in partnership with Trylon microcinema.
On March 5, join guest host, musician Mark Mallman, to view "Idaho Transfer" (1973, 35 mm), directed by Peter Fonda and starring Kelly Bohanon, Kevin Hearst and Caroline Hildebrand. This early 1970s sci-fi film follows young time travelers at a facility investigating time transfer. When the government shuts down the project, they are abandoned to the future. This is the only known 35mm print.
About Mark Mallman: Since his debut in the late 1990s, Mark Mallman has earned a reputation as one of the Twin Cities' must-see live music acts, complete with his own star on the wall outside First Avenue. Mallman is also a professional composer who has created original pieces for motion picture trailers, including "Adventureland," "10,000 BC" and "The Haunting of Molly Hartley."
