Wayupi-Wi is a Dakota word that means "planting moon." Plant heirloom native seeds using traditional tools and techniques in the historic site's gardens. Explore the planting styles of both Dakota and European-American settlers and the long established seed-trading network. Learn through hands-on activities how plants, farming and gardening impacted traditional Dakota life ways. Various heirloom seeds such as corn, beans, squash, pumpkins and sunflowers will be available to plant.

Participants will take home their own version of a three-sister mini garden.
