St. Paul, MN 55102
Discuss the words of Senator Eugene McCarthy and Vice-President Hubert H. Humphrey, two Minnesota leaders who were vying for the Democratic nomination for president in a political race that came to a head at the violent and divisive Democratic National Convention in Chicago during August of 1968.
This series is built on a book club model where participants examine historical materials from 1968, including letters, articles, and speeches, and join in a facilitated discussion. A new topic will be presented every other month through the run of “The 1968 Exhibit.” Participants should preregister to get a reading list, discussion questions, and related materials to review before the program.
This program is made possible by the Legacy Amendment's Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund through the vote of Minnesotans on Nov. 4, 2008.
