Minneapolis, MN 55455
As the Minnesota History Center remembers the 50th anniversary of pivotal events of the 1960s in the "The 1968 Exhibit," on this tour, discover stories of the Minneapolis West Bank/Cedar Riverside neighborhood during this era. The neighborhood is one of the city's most diverse and vibrant neighborhoods, famous for the 1960s folk and blues scene and protest movements of the 1970s.
In the 1960s and 1970s, the neighborhood became home to college students, hippies, and artists, and citizens who successfully resisted urban renewal plans that threatened to destroy the character of the neighborhood. The tour will visit some iconic watering holes, and tour participants will hear stories from neighborhood insiders.
This tour includes 1.5 miles of moderately-paced walking on uneven terrain. Please call ahead to make arrangements for guests with limited mobility. Some historic locations on this tour offer limited accessibility.
