St. Paul, MN 55102
Friends and family caregivers are invited to a half-day workshop designed to learn to use museum resources to encourage memory sharing and help people to live well with dementia. The workshop centers on objects, photographs, ephemera, and their associated stories housed at the Minnesota Historical Society.
Caregivers will learn what types of memory activities and resources are available and how to use them to communicate with people living with dementia. Examples include creating memory boxes, memory trees, and participating in museum programs. Caregivers will also work with the free My House of Memories app, designed with and for people living with dementia, so they can do memory sharing at home, in residential care homes, or any setting.
Boxed lunches will be served.
House of Memories is a dementia awareness program developed in partnership with National Museums Liverpool. The workshop is made possible in part by a grant from the Institute of Museum and Library Services and the Legacy Amendment's Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund through the vote of Minnesotans on Nov. 4, 2008.
