Join Nicole R. Fleetwood, associate professor of American Studies at Rutgers, as she discusses contemporary art by current and former incarcerated people. She will also examine how incarcerated people use the limited materials available in prisons to create art that challenges the carceral state.
This event is connected to the Minnesota History Center exhibit States of Incarceration in the Irvine Gallery, which explores the issue of mass incarceration in the U.S. and Minnesota.
