What does it mean to re-enter society after you're released from the walls of a prison? Formerly incarcerated individuals face challenges like minimal preparation and little assistance and support resources to re-enter their communities. Join local pastor and community organizer, Danny Givens Jr. as he shares his story of incarceration and the journey that led him to help other formerly incarcerated people heal. Learn about re-entry challenges for incarceration survivors, healing methods from the trauma of incarceration, and engage in an embodiment exercise.
Pastor Danny Givens, Jr. is the senior pastor of Above Every Name Ministries, a congregation in the Twin Cities that prides itself in being a “Church for the People.” As an advocate for racial and social justice surrounding the systemic issues facing black communities and other communities of color, Givens devotes much of his time and energy to the #BlackLivesMatterMpls movement in the role of clergy liaison.
