Join a conversation with Melvin Whitfield Carter Jr., former St. Paul police officer and MNHS Press author of Diesel Heart, and Russel Balenger, founder of the Circle of Peace Movement.

This panel discussion will explore topics around policing while black, what restorative justice looks like, and new ways to provide public safety to black communities. A Q&A session will follow. 

Before the panel begins, enjoy artifacts from the Minnesota State Archives and MNHS collections to see a historical perspective on the issues of race and policing in Minnesota.
