Cloudy, but warm. Feel tolerable well[.] Received Lt More valise & sword. A national Salute fired at daylight[,] noon & retreat, also fireworks at night in honor of the day. Bought on bbl of potatos for camp. $8.

Diary entry by John L. Kenny, who served as wagoner, quartermaster sergeant, and finally as first lieutenant quartermaster with Company A, Second Minnesota Regiment. This diary was just recently acquired and has not yet been added to our library catalog. Kenny’s regiment is currently near Kennesaw Mountain, Georgia.
