Jeffers Petroglyphs Invites All Minnesotans to Explore the Stars

The historic site will host events as part of the Bell Museum’s Statewide Star Party

COMFREY, Minn (August 1, 2023) – Astronomy experts and novice stargazers can join together to learn about the skies above. Jeffers Petroglyphs will host illuminating events as an official partner site for the Bell Museum’s Statewide Star Party.

Statewide Star Party Kickoff, August 10, 6 pm–7 pm

Jeffers Petroglyphs will broadcast a live conversation featuring Vince Diaz, Chair of the Department of American Indian Studies at the University of Minnesota and Jim Rock, Director of Indigenous Programming at the University of Minnesota-Duluth. The talk will be moderated by Gaagige Aanakwadikwe, Bell Museum Native American Initiatives Education Specialist.

Statewide Star Party With Unistellar Telescopes, August 12, 8pm–11 pm

Jeffers Petroglyphs will debut its new Unistellar telescopes for the public to learn and enjoy, and visitors are encouraged to bring binoculars to explore the sky above. There will also be hands-on activities and light refreshments throughout the evening.
