Historic Fort Snelling Recreates Independence Day in the 1890s

Travel back in time to experience parades, speeches, and performances on July 1

ST. PAUL, Minn (June 21, 2023) – On July 1st, visitors to Historic Fort Snelling will be able to step back in time to experience an Independence Day celebration from 125 years ago

Visitors will experience all of the sights and sounds of an Independence Day celebration during the time period, including a military parade, historical military music from our Historic Fort Snelling Fifes and Drums, and cannon salutes. The programming will span the entire 23 acre site including the new prairie landscape, the Plank Museum & Visitor Center, and of course the reconstructed historic fort.

Independence Day celebrations are included with regular site admission. ($12 for adults, free for MNHS members, Native Americans, and veterans)
