"Let's Think About This" Obstacle Trail Clinic

Catch your dreams at Historic Forestville during a "Let's Think About This" obstacle trail clinic.

Bring your horse or mule and join Vince Welch for some one-on-one guidance when approaching new obstacles with your riding partner. This unique offering is available to only three students and limited to 20 auditors due to limited parking. Three students will receive instruction on the ground obstacle work and in the saddle gaining tips along the way. At the end of the day, participants will show off what they've learned in a mini participant challenge.

Vince is a trail obstacle building guru and trail obstacle buckle winner. Dennis Auslam has been Vince's mentor for years and you will find Vince assisting Dennis at many events.

The clinic will take place 9 am to 5 pm.

Auditors are welcome to spend the day observing and asking questions.

Draft Horse Driving Experience

Join us for an amazing experience offered for the first time at Historic Forestville. Doubletree Carriage Company and Historic Forestville have teamed up to provide a lost arts skills class: driving draft horses.

This is an active participant class and you will get to groom the horses, harness the horses, learn the basic driving commands by doing some ground driving and then handle the lines from the driver’s wagon seat if you pass the ground driving portion (we will help you get there!). Experienced teamsters will be with you to guide and assist every step of the way while you learn to drive draft horses in this very special experience.

Dress for the weather with well fitted clothing that is okay to get dirty (preferably no skirts), closed toe and closed heel shoes are required (boots recommended, no sandals), and bring well fitted work gloves and a water bottle. Class will be held rain or shine.

Age restriction is 10 years and older and must be able to follow instructions. All minors must be accompanied by a paying adult/guardian.

You may attend this class even if you don’t have any horse experience and are willing to learn, we are willing to share these magnificent draft horses with you!

Includes a sack lunch, light snacks, and refreshments. Please let us know any dietary restrictions.

Check in at the Historic Forestville visitor center between 9 and 9:30 am.
