Head to the Minnesota History Center lawn to learn traditional Dakota and Ojibwe games with Twin Cities Native Lacrosse and Jeremy Red Eagle, Sisseton Wahpeton Oyate and a recent MNHS Native American Artist-in-Residence who studied Dakota games in the MNHS collection.

This program is offered in conjunction with the Our Home: Native Minnesota exhibit and made possible by the Legacy Amendment's Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund through the vote of Minnesotans on Nov. 4, 2008.

About Twin Cities Native Lacrosse: John (Winnebago/ Ojibwe) and Lonna (Dakota/ Tlingit) Hunter are co-directors of Twin Cities Native Lacrosse, which they founded in 2014 to increase access to the traditional game of thakapsicapi/ baaga'adowewin in and around the Twin Cities Native American community. The lacrosse group consists of coaches and families who gather together to learn and play the traditional wooden-stick game played by the Dakota and Ojibwe Nations here in the region for hundreds of years.
