Statewide Local Elections Next Tuesday!

By: Lori Williamson | Item of the Day | October 27, 2021

Reminder: statewide local elections will be held next Tuesday, November 2!
Both Saint Paul and Minneapolis will have rent control questions on their ballots. This is an issue that comes up with some regularity; here we present an early ballot box and some buttons from earlier iterations of this question.
This was the first ballot box used in Spring Lake, MN, and made by George Sutton in 1854.
The "Fair Housing" button is from 1991.
Brian Coyle, Minneapolis City Council Member, used the blue button in the 1980s.
An article presenting both sides of the Cities' ballot questions can be found here: https://www.minnpost.com/metro/2021/05/the-push-for-rent-control-in-minneapolis-explained/
Check the Minnesota Secretary of State's web site for more information about how and where to vote statewide!
