About This Event

Celebrate Minnesota Statehood Day with the Minnesota State Band and their spring concert, “History, Pageantry, Variety.” Enjoy a program filled with historic marches, celebratory fanfares, folk songs, operatic overtures, and the premiere of the Band’s composition contest winner. Selections will include “Washington Greys” (first performed by the band 100 years ago), “Jubilee Overture” by Philip Sparke, “One Life Beautiful” by Julie Giroux, and favorites from Sousa, Saint-Saens, Mozart, Dukas, and more.

The Minnesota State Band is the Official Band of the State of Minnesota and has been delighting audiences since their first appearance in April 1898 at a St. Paul Apostles baseball game. The band is the only remaining State Band in the United States and is now operated as a non-profit organization with an all-volunteer membership. The Band performs year-round for audiences across Minnesota and has represented the State of Minnesota on six International Goodwill Tours since 1986.
