About This Event
Celebrate the incredible dark skies above Split Rock Lighthouse during Dark Sky Night, presented in partnership with the Marshall W. Alworth Planetarium as part of their annual Dark Sky Caravan.
Join us on Tuesday, August 11, from 8–10 pm for an evening of stargazing and exploration. Look through telescopes to observe celestial objects, take part in live guided tours of the night sky, and learn to identify the stars, planets, and constellations visible above Lake Superior.
Interested in photographing the night sky? Local photographers will be available throughout the evening to share tips and techniques for capturing the stars above one of Minnesota's most iconic landmarks.
If clouds roll in, the fun doesn't stop! We'll still enjoy interactive activities and digital sky tours that will help you discover what to look for when the skies clear.
Whether you're an experienced astronomer, an aspiring astrophotographer, or simply someone who enjoys looking up at the stars, Dark Sky Night is a unique opportunity to experience the beauty of Minnesota's North Shore after dark.
What to bring: Bug spray, a headlamp or flashlight (a red-light setting is preferred), and clothing appropriate for the evening weather.
