About This Event
Curious about blacksmithing but not sure where to start? This introductory blacksmithing class is designed for beginners and hobbyists alike who want to experience the fundamentals of forging in a welcoming, hands-on environment.
The class will feature live demonstrations of forging classic beginner projects, including a coat hook, decorative leaf, and belt buckle. Along the way, you’ll learn core blacksmithing techniques such as tapering, bending, twisting, punching, cutting, and riveting, and see how these skills come together in real projects.
We’ll also discuss what you need to get started on your own: essential tools and equipment, budget-friendly alternatives, safety considerations, and resources for further classes and learning.
To top it off, attendees will have the opportunity to briefly step up to the anvil and try forging hot steel themselves, giving you a true feel for the craft. No prior experience required - just curiosity and a willingness to swing a hammer!
