About This Event
Many people think that you can’t forage in the winter, but this is not true! Join Maria Wesserle of Four Season Foraging in this introductory class about common wild edibles of winter. We will start inside for a slideshow presentation, then move outdoors to explore wild edible plants of the late winter landscape. We will discuss identification, harvest, and preparation of edible species, as well as laws and ethics around foraging. Plant and mushroom varieties that we may find include hackberries, juniper berries, turkey tail mushrooms, garlic mustard greens, and more! Bring your bags or baskets, as we may even get to harvest some winter wild edibles together.
About Maria Wesserle:
Maria has been gathering wild edibles since 2004 and loves sharing this skill with others. She has spent over 15 years organizing and teaching foraging programs in the Upper Midwest.
