Join us for for an afternoon with celebrity chef Katie Chin and learn about her unique solo performance Holy Shiitake! A Wok Star is Born.
In the talk, Chin will share how her personal journey and creative process inspired her one-person show. Holy Shiitake! chronicles Chin’s journey as a Chinese American girl growing up in Minneapolis in the 1970s where she was raised by her remarkable mother, seamstress turned restaurateur, Leeann Chin. The talk will offer insight into the unique blend of humor, storytelling, and culinary expertise that Chin will also bring to the Minnesota History Center from February 5th - February 7th.
The talk starts at 1 pm in the Mill City Museum Commons. The talk and audience Q&A runs 60 minutes and will be followed by book signing and reception with light refreshments.

Bio:
Katie Chin is an Award-winning Celebrity Chef, cookbook author, caterer, blogger, and Culinary Ambassador to the National Pediatric Cancer Foundation. Katie co-hosted the national PBS cooking series, Double Happiness, in conjunction with her mother and together they wrote Everyday Chinese Cooking. On her own, Katie wrote 300 Best Rice Cooker Recipes and the bestsellers Everyday Thai Cooking, Everyday Chinese Cookbook and Katie Chin's Global Family Cookbook.
Her numerous appearances on national television include The Kelly Clarkson Show, Live with Kelly & Mark, Chopped, The Today Show, Cutthroat Kitchen, Beat Bobby Flay, Supermarket Stakeout, Battle of the Decades and as a guest judge on Food Network’s Iron Chef America. In 2013, Katie was a featured chef at the annual Easter Egg Roll at the White House under the Obama administration.
