About This Event

Commemorate our nation’s 250th anniversary with the Great Minnesota Show-and-Tell, a day-long event where the public showcases objects that connect us to the American story. This one-day “people’s exhibit” will tell the story of how Minnesotans have been part of our nation’s history. This is a true show-and-tell, with participants bringing personal objects from home to share with museum visitors.

To make this possible, we need you! We’re looking for a wide range of show-and-tell objects that show how Minnesotans have been part of the American story. These could include family heirlooms, service medals, memorabilia of civic engagement, historic documents, personal keepsakes of important historical moments, and more. This is your opportunity to share with museum visitors what makes your history American history.

Reserve your admission tickets early to the Great Minnesota Show-and-Tell via the Get Tickets button on the right of this page!

To take part in this event, fill out an application at the link below. Because of limited space at the History Center, not all applicants will be selected to show an object. If selected, participants are required to be present for the duration of the event and personally share with visitors the significance of their object. Participation is open to all ages, but participants under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult for the duration.

Note: No appraisals or consultations from MNHS staff will be available during the Great Minnesota Show & Tell, nor will any donations of objects be considered.
