Legislative Records

Description of Legislative Records

During the NDIIPP project, legislative records in digital form were our primary interest,
but we recognized records continue to be created, maintained, and accessed in
many forms (paper, microform, digital).

Minnesota Bills and Statutes produced from the electronic bill drafting system used by the Minnesota Revisor of Statutes office were the main records we focused on. Other records, documents, and digital data created during the legislative function or process were relevant to the project, including published statutes and laws, resolutions, committee and subcommittee meeting minutes, published legislative journals, reports to the legislature, calendars, and much more.

The original five partners of the project were surveyed to determine the universe of
legislative-related records created by their state legislatures. The results can be found here.
