Hmong Oral History Project

Minnesota is home to one of the largest populations of Hmong immigrants in the United States. These nine interviews with Hmong men and women from the Twin Cities metropolitan area, who immigrated to Minnesota from Laos and Thailand, record their experiences both before and after their immigration. Most of the interviews conclude with a statement of hope or a piece of advice from the narrator for future generations of Hmong people. This project was conducted by Charles Numrich, Linda Rossi and translator May Herr, who donated their tapes and transcripts to the Minnesota Historical Society.
