Oral History Collection

Mexican American Oral History Project

In 1975, under the direction of Ramedo J. Saucedo, the Minnesota Historical Society began a two-year project to collect the historical resources of this ethnic group: personal papers, organizational records, photographs, and other personal articles. Project staff also conducted 74 oral history interviews with people of Mexican American heritage living throughout the state. Some of the interviews were conducted in Spanish; all transcriptions are in English. Interviews with eight of the narrators have not been transcribed. For a description of all materials collected through this project, see Mexican Americans in Minnesota: An Introduction to Historical Sources, compiled by Ramedo J. Saucedo (St. Paul: Minnesota Historical Society, 1977).
