Training/Experience: Dr. Alexandra Zachwieja and Dr. Emma Verstraete both posses Ph.D.s in Anthropology from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Both are Registered Professional Archaeologists and experienced with research design and field methodology. Dr. Zachwieja has extensive experience with work on eroding cemeteries in Minnesota and Alaska and forensic identification of human remains. She has further experience in geospatial modeling of archaeological site locations and predictive risk assessments for archaeological sites. Dr. Verstraete specializes in archival research and Section 106 assessment for historical archaeology sites and public outreach for archaeology. Her forthcoming book on American healthcare takes a material culture approach to explaining the transformation of the nation's understanding of health. She has expertise in management and curation of documents and archaeological artifacts, along with their digitization and transformation into geospatial data. Artifact specialties include historic bottles and ceramics.
