Field Trips
Thank you for your interest. In response to ongoing concerns over health and safety practices, MNHS museums and historic sites will not host any field trips during the 2020-2021 school year.
Look for scholarships to re-open in the fall of 2021 for the 2021-2022 school year.

Field trip options
Once Upon a Forest
Introduces youngsters to “the healthy forest.” Children meet forest creatures, learn how humans use the forest, and how each of them can help preserve a healthy forest.
Grades: Pre-K, K, 1
Cost: $6 per student
Logging Camp Tours
Immerse students in the life and times of Minnesota lumberjacks. Costumed interpreters and an authentically recreated 1900 logging camp bring history to life in a discovery learning experience. Adaptable to students of all grades.
Grades: 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12
Cost: $6 per student
Second Adventure
Hands-on activities help students develop an appreciation for the natural environment. Students will create a nature journal, become nature detectives, and play a predator-prey game, plus more.

Stomping on Winter
After learning to snowshoe and navigating an obstacle course, students use GPS units and digital cameras to record coordinates and imagery of flora and fauna during a wintry expedition in the forest.
Grades: 4, 5, 6
Cost: $6 per student
"P" is For Paper
Learn what products come from the forest and how to sustainably harvest trees. Make your own piece of paper.
Grades: 3, 4, 5, 6
Cost: $6 per student
Squirrel's World View
View the forest from a squirrel’s perspective through five structured outdoor learning stations.
Grades: 4
Cost: $6 per student
White Tail Trail
Learn how deer have adapted to changes in the forest. Students learn how to use GPS units and digital cameras.
Grades: 5
Cost: $6 per person
Cruising Giants
Students learn about efforts to care for and manage the majestic white pine forest in this science and math-based program.
Grades: 6
Cost: $6 per student
Academic standards
All programs support state of Minnesota academic standards in social studies. Many also support science and math standards.
