March 28, 2008
Overview
The Minnesota Historical Society met with its Kansas partners. Participants represented Kansas's Legislative Computer Services, State Historical Society, Information Technology Office (Legislative Branch), and XML legislative software vendor Propylon.
In 2000 the Kansas Statehouse began a multi-phase restoration, which afforded a unique opportunity to revamp the Kansas Legislative Information Systems infrastructure. Informed by the concept of e-democracy, the Kansas Legislative Information Systems Strategy (K-LISS) was conceived in 2004. The Legislature's Chief Information Technology Officer (CITO) was charged with implementing it.
CITO Don Heiman summarized and updated the K-LISS for all present. Participants then discussed what potential collaborations may be addressed by the current MHS project.
