Recent State Archives Acquisitions: February 2008

The most significant acquisition this month is records of the Fergus Falls State Hospital because the state hospital (now called a regional treatment center) is closed and the campus buildings have been sold to the City of Fergus Falls.  Included in this acquisition are annual and biennial reports (1888-2001), cemetery plats with index (1890-1968), selected patient records with summary information (1931-1981), payroll records (1900-1955), photographs (1894-1992), published records and reports (1910-2002), the Weekly Pulse newsletter (1933-2002), and selected subject files (1958-1998).  These records had been preserved in the facility’s museum, and inter-file with or complement existing records already in the State Archives collection.

Attorney General correspondence (1973-1975) and Public Utilities Commission records (1996-2006) continue existing series in the State Archives.

Also transferred this month are selected photographs (undated, 1933, 1940s-1990s) of the Employment and Economic Development Department (particularly its predecessors, the Departments of Social Security, Manpower Services, and Jobs and Training) of commissioners and deputy commissioners, plus action scenes of major events and activities of the department.
