Minnesota State Archives

Recent State Archives Acquisitions: July 2012

Background Information

Records added this month to the State Archives enhance existing records in the collection, and will be valuable for various types of research.

The Edina Police Department transferred a variety of records, including annual reports (dated 1960-1985), staff meeting summaries (dated 1979-1984), and a staff manual (dated 1967-1992) which nicely complement other records of this suburban police department.

Received from the Human Services Department/State Operated Services Division are published records and reports (dated 1988-2007), and selected subject files (dated 1986-1992) concerning such topics as staffing standards, laundry services, and patient services.

Records of the Minnesota correctional institutions are one of the collecting strengths of the State Archives, and inmate photographs (dated ca. 1920s-1978) added to the collection will be especially useful for family history research.  Also included are inmate photographs of the Annex for Defective Delinquents (dated 1945-1963) which was located in Faribault, and the Youth Conservation Commission (dated 1948-1962).
