Recent State Archives Acquisitions: March 2009
Background Information
Records added this month to the State Archives collection continue, or inter-file with, existing record series in the collection.
Audit reports and financial reports, dated 1990-2000, were transferred by the state Auditor and fill in gaps in the master set of records. The reports are useful to provide a summary analysis of the financial condition of state and local government agencies, and are used for various types of research.
Registers of action, dated 1854-1961, for civil, criminal and probate cases were received from the Blue Earth County District Court, and will enhance the use of related records already preserved in the State Archives.
Documenting the Minnesota Legislature is collecting priority of the State Archives, and records from the Legislative Auditor and House Research Department acquisitioned this month help fulfill that goal.
The Legislative Auditor transferred program evaluation reports, dated 2008-2009, concerning such topics as state highways and bridges, school district student transportation, agricultural land preservation, and charter schools. The program evaluation reports describe state programs or the operations of state agencies, analyze management problems, evaluate outcomes, and recommend alternative means of reaching program goals. These reports continue an existing set that dates from 1977 to the near present.
House bill summaries, dated 2007-2008, were received from the House Research Department, and continue an existing set that date from 1975.
