Walking tours
Walking tours on site are guided and take half an hour or less.
Conservation and CCC
Hear about some of the first efforts of conservation after the logging of the early 1900s. Learn the Civilian Conservation Corps’ role in conservation, early wildland firefighting and have a chance to climb a fire tower.
1892 homestead
Hear about a family who homesteaded right on our property in the late 1800s and talk about how they ended up here, how it went for them, and how their experience fits into the larger picture of turn-of-the-century homesteading.
Tree ID
Get to know the trees of the north woods. Look at a variety of examples of trees, learn how to identify them, and examine what makes each tree unique. Discover specific uses of each species.
Mosses and ferns and lichens
Take a look at some of the underdogs of the forest. Explore things that grow on, beneath, and around trees. That would be the mosses, ferns, and lichens of the north woods. “I’m lichen it!”
