Snake River Fur Post to Introduce New Summer Event

Voyageur Day will give visitors a glimpse of life inside a 19th century fur post

PINE CITY, Minn. (June 29, 2026) – This July the Snake River Fur Post will introduce a new event that shines a light on the lives of Voyageurs in the early 1800s. During Voyageur Day, guests can learn more about the work and lives of Voyageurs involved in the fur trade in Minnesota.

The event will include costumed historic reenactors from La Compagnie des Hivernants de la Riviere Saint Pierre who will lead demonstrations and activities. A variety of topics will be covered, including items traded between Native Americans and Europeans, historic foodways, and the opportunity to paddle a replica fur trade-sized canoe.

Throughout the event, the Snake River Fur Post’s visitor center exhibits will be open to visitors and guests can explore the site to learn more about life in a 19th century fur post.

$12 for adults, $10 for seniors, military members, and college students, $8 for children. MNHS members save 20%.
