Share your Story at the Great Minnesota Show-and-Tell

Minnesotans invited to share personal objects that represent American history

SAINT PAUL, Minn. (September 25, 2026) – The Minnesota Historical Society is putting out a call for Minnesotans to share their personal connections to American history through the Great Minnesota Show-and-Tell, a one-day “people’s exhibit” celebrating the nation’s 250th anniversary at the Minnesota History Center.

Applications to showcase objects at the Great Minnesota Show-and-Tell will be accepted until October 5. Anyone interested is encouraged to apply to showcase objects that represent American history. This can include family heirlooms, service medals, civic engagement memorabilia, historic documents, personal keepsakes connected to important historical moments and more.

The objects will be on display on October 24, 2026 from 11 am to 2 pm for visitors to learn how Minnesotans have been part of the American story. The event is a true show-and-tell, and selected participants are required to be present for the duration of the event to personally share with visitors the significance of their object. Participation is open to all ages, but participants under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult for the duration of the event.
