Inclusion & Community Engagement Department mission

We serve as a bridge between the Minnesota Historical Society and communities who have been excluded, harmed and mis/underrepresented, in support of community-identified priorities for preserving and sharing our histories.

Core programs

A Taste of History

We host immersive culinary workshops and lectures led by chefs and storytellers to explore the relationship between identity, memory, land and foodways across time.

A History on Screen event sharing inclusive histories. An audience in a dark auditorium watches three musicians perform on a lit stage with a piano and woodwinds. Behind them, a large projection screen shows a grid of video participants, blending live performance with community dialogue.

We support film screening events featuring community-led efforts to preserve and share inclusive histories and engage in meaningful dialogue.

Artist & Archives

We collaborate with local artists to activate community history archives through interactive workshops, theatre performances, and concerts.

Legacy Partnership Programming

We support community-led initiatives to share and preserve history through partnerships with local organizations and individuals, including events, activations, and online educational resources.
