Kevin Maijala

Vice President, Education & Initiatives

Kevin Maijala has served in many capacities across more than two decades of service at the Minnesota Historical Society. His proven track record of leading institutional change, program development, and building high-functioning teams led him to his current role as Vice President of Education & Initiatives and the Josephine (Nicky) Benz Carpenter Chair for Education.

Throughout his career, Kevin has developed programming and exhibits at MNHS sites and museums across the state. He has been a strong part of advocacy as well as creating high quality curriculum for K-12 teacher education programs, including the award-winning Northern Lights curriculum for Minnesota sixth graders. Most recently, he is leading efforts on programming for the Semiquincentennial of the United States.

Prior to joining MNHS, Kevin served as the outreach manager for the Jamestown-Yorktown Foundation. He holds a B.A. from the University of Minnesota and an M.A. in Museum Studies from Hampton University.
